's lead, breaking news. republican power grab in michigan. republican governor rick snyder has just signed bills designed to cripple unions. and take away workers' rights even though earlier this year he said such a move would be quote, divisive and inappropriate. snyder signed the bills despite protests from more than 10,000 people who descended on the state capitol in a massive push back against this shameless power play from the republicans. >> right the work is wrong! right the work is wrong! >> he lied to us. he lied to us on numerous occasions. >> veto! veto! >> kill the bill! kill the bill! >> the protests were passionate and grew tense. in this video from the state's aclu, you can see police actually using pepper spray on some of the demonstrators. the issue in michigan is the republican legislature ramming through a so-called right to work bill. with no warning and no hearings. but the fight is bigger than michigan. it's a fight about worker rights and civil rights across the country. this country, the american people, rejected this kind of extremism on election day. but republica

in newtown. it's not just the white house. it's not just congress. today there's major news out of michigan where the republican governor rick snyder has vetoed legislation that would allow concealed weapons in churches and schools and day care centers. new polls show support for stricter gun control is at a ten-year high. the company that owns the gun maker that produced the rifle used in last week's massacre plans to sell it. calling the shooting a quote, water shed event. and dick sporting goods has suspend the sale of modern sporting rifles in all of their change. this is change. this is different. yet the right wing is already gearing up for a fight. fox news reports that the nra is expected to push back soon. they'll hold a news conference on friday. and republican governors still aren't convinced that guns are the problem. governor jan brewer says quote, i'm not sure additional gun control is something that needs to be addressed. i don't know how we get our arms around it. don't know how to get your arms around it? how about disarming those who shouldn't have weapons? and virginia go

. they passed antiunion laws in michigan, proposed new schemes to rig electoral college, planned new anti-choice bills in states like michigan, arkansas and texas. i mean, it's almost like the election never happened. absolutely. it's like they almost forgot who won. look, this is one they had during the primary. one of the most tenacious, one of the most ridiculous -- you just played a lot of clips. you left out some of the really good ones. they had all of those debates. people got to see and decide, look, all of these guys are extreme. every last one of them. and then they claim oh, we didn't have the best kand dot, who, by the way, tried to go to the cent er and folks figured that ut. they underestimated the fact that, reverend sharpton, they're playing to a small minority. they keep playing to this loud, small minority where most of america has moved on, including their children. the younger generation. that's where they're failing. >> well, marge, when you listen to joe say that, those statistics bear him out. appalled nbc wall street journal poll says the favorability among republi
